Golden was founded during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush on June 16, 1859 and named after prospector Thomas L. Golden, quickly becoming an economic and political center thanks to its position on Clear Creek. It served as the capital of the Colorado Territory from 1862 until the seat moved to Denver in 1867 and developed into a hub for railroads, milling and smelting supporting mountain mining districts.
Over the 20th century, Coors Brewery and the Colorado School of Mines anchored Golden's working-class and academic identity, while preservation of downtown and surrounding open space set the stage for its current status as a highly desirable foothills city. Just as Golden has evolved while preserving its heritage, Carmody Lake Plumbing brings modern techniques and technology to homes throughout Golden while respecting the unique character of each property.
